Get to know Italy during this five-day tour and enjoy the
opportunity to get to know one of the world’s most romantic and inspiring
cities. Enjoy a walking tour of the historical center of Naples with our local
guide. You will also relax while seeing the magnificent views of Positano and
other picturesque fishing villages.
Meet your tour leader at the Gartour office on Viale Bastioni di Michelangelo, 21 at 7.00 in the morning (you can contact the tour leader the day before departure for extra information) and depart to Naples. Upon arrival in Naples our local guide will take us for a walking tour of the historical center to admire Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, Piazza del Municipio, the Gallery of Umberto I, the San Carlo Opera House. Upon leaving the city, continue to Pompeii.
After lunch in a typical restaurant with Neapolitan specialties (mineral water and 1 soft drink included), visit a coral and cameo factory where we will have the opportunity to admire and purchase items made with a technique dating back to ancient Greek times. Then visit the excavations of Pompeii, the ancient Roman city destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This archaeological journey through the ancient city will give you the opportunity to better understand how Romans used to live at that time.
Proceed to Sorrento, the gateway to the Amalfi coast, with its colorful historical center, pretty waterfront filled with bobbing fishing boats and the Marina Grande cruise pier. Check in and have dinner at the hotel.
Overnight in Sorrento.
In the morning, wake up with an American buffet breakfast at the hotel before departing at 7:30/7:45 to the island of Capri. To get there, you will board the ferry and arrive at the Marina Grande. Once on the island, explore the Blue Grotto (weather permitting) and make a stop at the famous Piazzetta. A minibus then takes you up to admire the stunning views from Anacapri. After that, return to Marina Grande where you will board the ferry. Once on the mainland, you will be transferred back to Sorrento.
Overnight in Sorrento.
After an American buffet breakfast at the hotel, depart to the Amalfi Coast at 9:30 in the morning. You’ll drive there along the breath-taking Amalfi Coast drive. En route, make a stop in the beautiful town of Positano. Upon arrival in this picturesque village, enjoy about an hour and a half of free time to explore its many narrow lanes and souvenir shops.
Alternately, you can opt for lazing on the beach or even visiting the Church of Santa Maria Assunta (at own expense). Then depart Positano and continue to Amalfi, where you’ll check in at the hotel before spending an afternoon at leisure. You can reach the beach and plunge into the warm waters of the Mediterranean or venture out to explore the other amazing villages that dot the coast.
Overnight in Amalfi.
Wake up to an American Buffet breakfast at the hotel and then spend the day at leisure exploring the historical center of Amalfi. This city’s old town is justly known as an outdoor museum, as it preserves almost intact architectural and urban digs of its bygone days as a wealthy maritime republic.
Another option is going to visit the town of Ravello, which contains the beautiful Villa Ruffolo and the magnificent gardens of Villa Cimbrone. An agreeable way to spend the evening would be to indulge in a romantic dinner in one of the pretty restaurants that line the harbor or taste the typical street food.
Overnight in Amalfi.
After one last American buffet breakfast at the hotel, spend yet another morning at leisure making the most of your last moments in Amalfi. At 14:00/14:30 a transfer to Pompeii will pick you up at the hotel. Once in Pompeii, you’ll join the bus back to Rome.
You’ll be dropped off in Rome at 21:00 in Termini Station or Barberini Square, where the tour comes to an end!
